3 Simple Tips for Maintaining Your Kinetic Trainer

Many people wonder what sort of maintenance they should perform to keep their Kinetic Trainers running without a hitch-- and the truthful answer is, almost none! Kinetic Trainers are designed for durability and ease of use with minimal upkeep.

However, as we head into winter months and you are breaking out the trainer more frequently, here are a couple tips to ensure it stays in top-notch condition.

1. Clean the roller

The roller is the Trainer component most likely to accumulate dirt and grime. Apply window cleaner or rubbing alcohol to a lint-free cloth, then move it back and forth across the roller as you gently spin it.

With the roller’s dirt-resistant surface material, it should easily wipe clean in about 30 seconds.

2. Lubricate

Keep your Trainer working smoothly and quietly by lubricating a few key points with standard chain lube.

Start with the L Bolt (see image below), located on the resistance unit beneath the roller. Lubricate threads on the pin and twist a few times for even coating.

Next up, lubricate the left and right threaded rods-- indicated with green arrows in the image below-- using the same technique.

3. Tighten

Anything can loosen up over time, so it’s a good idea to periodically tighten up some of the bolts on your Trainer using a 14-millimeter wrench. The key points to check are leg bolts and the mounting bolts on the resistance unit.

And that’s it! Performing these easy upkeep techniques will minimize wear on your Trainer over time and ensure peak functionality.
