Thank you for purchasing the Kinetic inRide Watt Meter!

This video shows how to install the sensor pod, wear the heart rate strap and configure the Kinetic inRide application. Download App

(App only works with the iPhone 4S, 5 and the iPad 3 and iPad Mini)

1. Turn on Bluetooth

  1. Go to Device Settings menu
→ Bluetooth
  2. Toggle Bluetooth to ON position
  3. Don't look for the device or try to pair on this page, just turn on Bluetooth and go to the App!
 

2. Install the Kinetic inRide Sensor Pod

Follow the downloadable directions in the PDF in the "Helpful Links" sidebar or the flyer included in the Kinetic inRide package or as shown in the video above.

NOTE: Be sure magnet and pod are correctly aligned and sensor pod is placed properly on the trainer. Be sure sensor pod is attached exactly as shown at the very top edge of the resistance unit yoke bracket.

 

3. Connect to the App

Go to the app store and install the Kinetic inRide app
 

Pair Sensor Pod and Heart Rate Monitor Strap

  1. Launch Kinetic inRide app
  2. Quick Settings → Configuration
  3. Sensors Used → Add New
  4. Select: inRide Watt Meter → DONE
  5. Begin slowly pedaling
  6. App will find sensor. After sensor is located, it can be renamed if desired
  7. Select: SAVE
  8. Repeat steps 3 to 7 for heart rate monitor strap by selecting: Sensors Used → Add New → Heart Rate → DONE, etc…
  9. Exit to start screen by selecting: "Trainer Prefs" on upper left menu bar

Choose Data Screens

  1. Scroll down in the same screen used for pairing sensor at Quick Settings → Configuration
  2. Choose one or all of the Data Screens you'd like to scroll through and display while doing a workout
  3. Select or Deselect screens with the On/Off button. Screens can be previewed by touching screen image

Configure User Data

  1. From start screen, hit "wrench icon" in upper right menu bar
  2. Select "User Profile"
  3. Enter email address
  4. Select units of measurement (metric or english)
  5. Enter Height and Weight
  6. Enter Birthday and Gender

Scroll down to enter personalized training zone information

The Kinetic inRide can automatically calculate training zones when a number for Maximum Heart Rate or a number for FTP (functional threshold power) is entered. See this link to learn about determining training zones and FTP.

  1. In the User Profile screen, scroll down below User settings to: Heart Rate Zones
  2. If you know your Max Heart Rate enter it (roughly calculated as 220 - (your current age) = Max Heart Rate
  3. Press: Auto-Calculate Zones
  4. Zones will populate with heart rate zone breaks
  5. Next, Enter Rest Heart Rate*
  6. Scroll down to: Power Zones
  7. If you know your FTP (functional threshold power), enter the value
  8. Press: Auto-Calculate Zones
  9. Zones will populate with wattage breaks
  10. Exit screen by hitting: config  → DONE on the upper left menu bar

*Find your resting heart rate when you are first waking up in the morning before doing anything else. To check your heart rate either place your index and middle finger on the radial artery on your wrist in line with your thumb or place your index finger and middle finger on the side of your upper neck on the carotid artery. Then count the number of beats in one minute to get your heart rate (Hint: your iPhone has a stopwatch that you can time yourself with or use your Kinetic inRide Heart Rate Strap to tell you your waking heart rate.)

Configure Sharing

Workout data can be emailed and sent to several different training-related sites including Training Peaks, Strava, Map My Fitness, 2Peak, Ride With GPS, Garmin Connect, and Dropbox. To configure these accounts if you already have a membership, do the following:

  1. From start screen, hit "wrench icon" in upper right menu bar
  2. Select "Sharing"
  3. Select account service to add
  4. Enter Username and Password
  5. Select: DONE on upper right menu bar
  6. Exit screen by hitting: config  → DONE on the upper left menu bar

You are now ready to ride!

 

4. Start a Workout

  1. Saddle up and begin pedaling
  2. Press "Get Ready"
  3. Press "Start"

When working out you can scroll left to right and review different data screens

 

5. Stop a Workout

  1. Press: "Pause"
  2. Press: "Stop"
  3. Press: "Save Workout" if you wish to save the workout data in the app history
  4. Workout summary will appear. Scroll down to review the workout
  5. Press: "sharing icon" (box with arrow) on upper right menu bar if you wish to email the data or send the workout data to an external web site that's been configured in "Sharing"

Saved workouts are automatically stored in "History"

 

6. Access Workout History

1000s of workouts can be saved in the application history file depending on free space in your device. To access previously stored workouts follow these steps:

  1. Press: History Icon (located on bottom right menu next the "Get Ready" button on initial start screen)
  2. List of previous workouts will appear
  3. Select any prior workout and Workout Details screen reappears. Past workouts can be shared and re-shared from this screen.
